How to Guide: Office Olympics

/ February 28, 2018 February 28, 2018

In honor of the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, Exude launched our own 2018 Departmental Olympics. We leveraged our culture club, a team of 7 employees to design and create four, 20 minute games that are loosely based off of the Winter Olympic Games. This is one of the many events that culture club puts on to reinforce Exude’s culture while driving engagement and creating office fun.

Our President & COO, David DiStefano shared a short video of our first event, Office Chair Speed Skating, and got such an overwhelming response that we created a How to Guide for Office Olympics that other organizations can use. First we divided the office into departments which represented different countries and asked them to create team names, flags, and select a song for the national anthem of their department. We held an opening ceremony where each team walked out to their song of choice while waving to their follow countries. The departments got creative with team names including “Bad Assets” for the finance team and “Team Pipeline” for Sales and Marketing.  We decided to host four 20 minute events so that each team could participate without a large time commitment. The games we selected included:

  1. Office Chair Speed Skating
  2. Table Top Ice Hockey
  3. Human Curling
  4. WII Snowboarding

The best part about our Office Olympics was that we were able to do it at little to no cost. As you’ll see in our How to Guide for Office Olympics you can use office supplies and leverage staff for ideas and supplies.

You don’t have to wait until the next Olympic Games to enjoy this fun event. You can set up the same activities as an employee appreciation day or even at a company event.
